Summary

Jüngel's significance and legacy in the field of theology cannot be underestimated, and his work has experienced new levels of popularity in the last five years. With the covered topics ranging from andocentric theology, the church and the sacrament, and God and Jesus Christ, this anthology of original source texts takes the key parts of Eberhard Jüngel's work and packages them together to present the ultimate introduction to his thought. Split into three parts, the book includes a biographical introduction to Jüngel's life, detailing the context of his work in Nazi Germany and post-war Germany under Soviet occupation. The second part outlines the central themes of Jüngel's theology, positing a central idea which can be drawn from the texts. The final part presents Jüngel's engagement and interaction with other important theologians, and how they contributed to his thought.

As an introductory theology to one of the most prominent theologians of the 20th century, the volume has a wide, global appeal for students interested in modern and European theology. In light of the vibrant interest in political theologies, the theological heritage of the Reformation, metaphysics and analogy, the volume also has ecumenical appeal.

Written especially for classroom use, this textbook includes a wide range of pedagogical features:
*key words and key issues are outlined in the text boxes
*each chapter ends with study questions
*the source readings are graded and arranged by level of difficulty
*glossary of key terms is positioned at the end of the volume
*suggestions for further reading
