Duck Dynasty Slot Machine

Centered on the Robinson family and their business, Duck Commander, A&E's Duck Dynasty has become one of the most successful reality shows of all time. As is usually the case when a TV show becomes this popular, Duck Dynasty has found its way into casinos thanks to Bally's.

Unlike the hillbilly family that it's based on, Bally's Duck Dynasty slot machine is pretty flashy with its Alpha 2 Pro Series cabinet featuring two slots side by side and multiple bonus features.

But are Ducky Dynasty slots only worth playing if you're a fan of the show? Or is this a slot that everybody can enjoy?

Find out in our review, which covers Duck Dynasty's details, bonus rounds, and how it compares to Zynga's mobile version.

An Overview of Duck Dynasty

The first aspect of Duck Dynasty worth discussing is the Alpha 2 Pro Series cabinet. This side by side setup allows you and a friend to play at the same time, enabling you to watch each other's big wins and bonus rounds.

The cabinet also features a screen above the reels that shows a few of the real life characters moving around. This is a nice touch of realism while you're playing the game.

You'll of course see the main characters on the reels, including all of the following:

  • Willie Robertson the Duck Commander CEO
  • Korie Robertson who is Willie's wife
  • Jase Robertson who is Willie's brother
  • Uncle Si Robertson who is Willie's uncle
  • Miss Kay Robertson who is Willie's mom
  • Phil Robertson who is Willie's dad

There are also a few other symbols in the game.

  • A duck
  • A duck call
  • A deer
  • Fishing lures

The duck call is wild and substitutes for all other symbols except the Bonus Wheel and Duck Dynasty symbols.

The Duck Dynasty symbol offers the highest regular payout of 10,000 coins when it appears five times in a pay line. Assuming you bet the max coin size and get five Duck Dynasty symbols, you'll hit the progressive jackpot.

Each reel contains stacked mystery symbols that are randomly replaced by 2 or 3 of the following symbols once a spin begins: wild duck call, Phil, Willie, Jase, Si, duck, deer, Miss Kay, fishing lures, or Korie. This Mystery Stacks Feature usually helps you form a lot of winning combinations since the same symbols are grouped together.

Bonus Rounds

While the main game and cabinet for Duck Dynasty are nice, what really makes this game shine is its multiple bonus features. Ducky Dynasty features 7 different bonus features, many of which incorporate Bally's U Spin technology.

You unlock the bonus rounds through the Bonus Wheel, which is triggered when you get 3 of these scatter symbols on reels 2, 3, and / or 4.

This will bring up the Bonus Wheel, and each space has a different game listed. You use your fingers to spin the wheel, which will stop on one of the following games:

  • Duck Prize Wheel
  • Fishing for Credits
  • Froggin' Free Games
  • Lucky Duck Bonus
  • Miss Kay's Turtle Quest
  • The Si Show
  • Willie's Bullseye Bonus

Unfortunately, the way in which you spin the wheel doesn't really have any bearing on the result, but it's still fun to use your hand and watch as your bonus fate hangs in the balance.

Below you can see a brief description of what to expect from each bonus round:

  • Duck Prize Wheel

The Bonus Wheel will land on the Duck Prize wedge with a 1x, 2x, or 5x multiplier, determining your multiplier for the bonus round. You then spin the Duck Prize Wheel once, and you can win anywhere from 100 to 1,500 credits or 2 to 5 additional wheel spins.

  • Fishing for Credits

This is our favorite bonus round since it takes you to a realistic fishing scenario. You choose one of six fishing lures to get your multiplier ranging 2x to 10x. From here you cast your lure into the water and catch a fish or boot that awards you credits. You continue this sequence until you've picked and casted three lures; your prizes are calculated at the end.

  • Froggin' Free Games

You receive either 8 or 12 free spins. Following each free spin, anywhere from 2 4 of the reels turn into big frogs that act as stacked wilds. The progressive jackpot is not available during Froggin' Free Games.

  • Lucky Duck Bonus

You choose a duck call to reveal your multiplier. You then use the call to lure ducks to the water and earn credits.

  • Miss Kay's Turtle Quest

You first watch a scene from the show involving Miss Kay and turtles. After this, you select three turtles on the screen for prizes ranging from 150 to 500 credits.

  • The Si Show

After Uncle Si does a little dance in his booth, you get to spin a wheel and win anywhere from 125 to 1,000 credits and a multiplier worth 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, or 7x.

  • Willie's Bullseye Bonus

You first watch a scene from the show where the Duck Commander crew reveals a target board in their warehouse. Using U Spin technology, you pull back a crossbow and shoot an arrow at the board to win anywhere from 100 to 1,000 credits. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem as if the pressure you use to shoot the arrow has any actual bearing on the results.

Comparison to Zynga's Duck Dynasty

Social gaming developer Zynga has a Duck Dynasty slot that's available for PCs, Macs and Android / iOS mobile devices. If you visit the Duck Dynasty section of A&E's website, you'll even notice that Zynga pushes this game pretty hard.

The first thing you'll notice about this slot is that it features an odd, staggered reel setup, with 3 spaces on the outer two reels, 4 spaces on the next two reels and 5 spaces on the middle reel. Don't let this throw you off too much, though, because it's simply a game with 720 different pay line combinations.

Symbols include most of the main characters along with key items from the show like a football, iced tea, sunglasses, Cadillac with bull horns, duck and a silver duck head.

One interesting feature is that the players will say signature phrases when they appear in winning payouts. For example, we unlocked a bonus round with the Uncle Si scatter symbol and he says:

"Do we look like beauty contestants to you?"

Perhaps fans of the show will appreciate these phrases more than anybody, but we think it's a universal aspect that the average player will enjoy.

This took us to Pick a Beard bonus round, where the goal is to choose who has the longest beard. We chose Phil, who looks like he has the longest beard, but Willie (shortest looking beard) actually would've paid the most credits, proving that this round doesn't contain any skill.

Landing three Bonus symbols unlocks another bonus feature, which takes you to a screen where you choose ducks to pick up credits. Assuming you find Uncle Si, he'll call more ducks and give you extra chances to earn payouts.

However, if you reveal three beavers or run out of ducks before finding Uncle Si, the bonus round ends and your credits are tallied up.

This isn't really a bad slots game overall, and we like the bonus features. But Zynga's Duck Dynasty doesn't quite compare to Bally's version in terms of either graphics or bonus features.

Conclusion

Not everybody is a fan of the TV show Duck Dynasty, given that the humor is rather corny and the plotlines are all pointless. But regardless of if you're a fan of the show, you should be able to find something to like about the slots version.

We like that Bally's incorporated scenes from the show with each bonus game. And the sheer number of second screen bonus features gives you plenty to look forward to as you spin the reels.

The main game plays just like any other slot, and there's not really much special about it. But again, the real excitement comes when you bring up the Bonus Wheel, which happens frequently, and spin for one of the numerous bonus rounds.

Unless you absolutely hate A&E's Duck Dynasty, we strongly suggest that you play this game if you find it in a land based casino. To a lesser extent, you might also try Zynga's Duck Dynasty if you're looking for an above average mobile slots game.
