Nostradamus Slots

Michel de Nostredame, better known as Nostradamus, was a French apothecary who lived from 1503 to 1566. He is famous for publishing several books of prophecy, most notably Les Propheties. These works claimed to predict future events, sometimes centuries before they occurred. While most believe that Nostradamus simply got lucky with his vague ramblings, others have elevated him to the status of a genuine prophet of things yet to come.

In recent years, Ash Gaming decided to capitalize on the enduring myth of this man by creating a Nostradamus slot machine. Available at multiple online casinos, the game (officially known as the "Nostradamus Prophecy Slot") hearkens back to a time when the planets were still a mystery and most modern conveniences had yet to be invented.

The game has abandoned the usual payline structure in favor of a more fluid method of play. Thanks to the "way win" system, players can achieve a payout just by getting three or more adjacent symbols from left to right. Reel wins are multiplied by your coin value, and each spin has 243 possible paths to riches.

Bonus Rounds and Special Features

The following are the bonus rounds and special features found in the Nostradamus online slot from Ash Gaming:

  • Planets Bonus
  • Free Spins Bonus
  • Prophecy Book Bonus
  • Nostradamus Predictions
Planets Bonus

Activated by getting bonus scatters on reels one, three, and five. When the "play" button is pressed, the planets begin to rotate around the sun. If a planet stops its rotation on the win line, then it awards the multiplier next to it. There's a possibility that all six displayed planets may stop on a win line during a single spin. Bonus winnings are multiplied by the player's total wager.

Free Spins Bonus

Three free spin icons award five free spins and one reel modifier. Four free spin icons award 10 free spins and up to two reel modifiers. Five free spin symbols award 15 free spins and enable all three reel modifiers. When a reel modifier is activated, it stays that way for a total of five spins. They include the following: the earthquake causes random symbols to fall away and be replaced by enhanced symbols; lighting strikes random symbols and turns them wild; the tsunami washes over the screen after a spin and turns one to three reels into stacked wilds.

Prophecy Book Bonus

This bonus is activated by getting a prophecy book symbol during the base game and risking enough money to qualify. American players, for example, need to wager a minimum of $10. If this occurs, the player receives a mystery cash prize. Multiple book symbols lead to larger payouts. This bonus cannot be multiplied or otherwise affected by additional game bonuses.

Nostradamus Predictions

If a scroll unrolls during the base game, Nostradamus makes a prediction that leads to one of the following: a reel modifier is awarded on the current spin; a big win is awarded on the reels of the current spin; a random multiplier is applied to all wins, as well as a special cash prize. These predictions are not available during free spins, and the additional cash prize isn't affected by any other modifiers.

Did You Know? 10 Facts about Nostradamus

In case you're unfamiliar with the man, here are 10 interesting facts about Nostradamus:

Made his living as an apothecary, the ancient equivalent of a pharmacist or chemist.
Forced to leave his original university due to an outbreak of the plague.
After publishing a series of prophetic almanacs, Nostradamus was summoned to the court of King Henry II of France to draw up horoscopes for the children of Catherine de Medici.
During his lifetime, he gained a certain degree of fame for creating a pill that was supposed to protect against the plague. There's no evidence that it was effective.
His wife and two children were killed by the plague in 1534.
Attended the University of Montpellier in 1529 to become a doctor, but he was expelled due to previously practicing as an apothecary (which was forbidden by the statutes of the school for being a "manual trade").
Suffered from gout for many years. This later turned into edema and led to his death.
Was imprisoned in 1561 for publishing an almanac without first getting the permission of a bishop.
Authored at least two books on medicine, discussing everything from bloodletting to the application of cosmetics.
His prophecies have been used to create a number of Internet hoaxes, in which fake Nostradamus predictions are circulated via email and attributed to current events. One of the most notable occurred after the events of 9/11.

The Prophecies of Nostradamus

Some individuals credit Nostradamus with predicting a number of important world events. We've included some of his most notable "successes" in this section, along with his actual writings. Prophet or charlatan? You be the judge.

Atomic Bomb Dropped on Hiroshima & Nagasaki

"Near the gates and within two cities, there will be scourges the like of which was never seen. Famine within plague, people put out by steel, crying to the great immortal God for relief."

Great London Fire of 1666

"The blood of the just will commit a fault at London. Burnt through, lighting of twenty threes the six: The ancient lady will fall from her high place. Several of the same sect will be killed."

Assassination of John and Robert Kennedy

"The great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt. An evil deed foretold by the bearer of a petition. According to the prediction, another falls at night time. Conflict at Reims, London and a pestilence in Tuscany."

The Moon Landing

"He will come to travel to the corner of Luna, where he will be captured and put in a strange land. The unripe fruits to be subject of great scandal, great blame, to one, great praise."

The Rise of Hitler

"Beasts ferocious with hunger will cross the rivers. The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hister. Into a cage of iron will the great one be drawn, when the child of Germany observes nothing."

The Rise of Napoleon

"PAU, NAY, LORON will be more of fire than of the blood. To swim in praise, the great one to flee to the confluence. He will refuse entry to the Piuses. The depraved ones and the Durance will keep them imprisoned."

Summary

Nostradamus may have been a visionary, or he may have gotten incredibly lucky when it came to making vague predictions about the future. Whatever the case, his name continues to live on through the centuries, something we doubt even he could've predicted.

While many believe his writings about the future were nonsense, there's nothing nonsensical about the slot machine that bears his name. With 243 ways to win and a progressive jackpot, you don't need to be a prophet to see a major payout in your future.
