Peggle Slot Machine

Inspired by addictive games such as pachinko, Peggle is a casual puzzle video game originally developed by PopCap Games. It made its debut in 2007 for Windows and Mac operating systems, but its popularity soon led to releases for the PlayStation Network, Android, Xbox Live Arcade, and several other platforms. It's been downloaded over 50 million times, and a study at East Carolina University found that a gaming session reduced depression levels of players by 45%.

Thanks to the success of the game, it has been licensed extensively by PopCap. One of these marketing efforts outside the world of video games resulted in Peggle slots, which was handled by the folks at Blueprint Gaming.

This article looks at the basics of the online casino adaptation, from the paytable to the unlockable, colorful characters. While reading this may not turn you into a Peggle Master, your overall skill level should be higher than when you started.

What is Peggle?

Peggle takes place over fifty-five levels, and players are able to choose from a number of "Peggle Masters" to help achieve their goals. These masters usually take the form of talking animals, but others include aliens, flowers, and even pumpkins.

When a round begins, the player is presented with a field of colored pegs. It's their goal to blast away certain pegs, while at the same time keeping an eye on their dwindling supply of ammunition. Different Peggle Masters have special shots and attacks, allowing the player to get creative when it comes to meeting their objective.

When played online, Peggle also keeps track of high scores. Doing well in this area has become an obsession for many, and it's not unusual to see an obsessed Peggle player game for hours in order to beat the high score of a friend or online rival.

Rows & Paylines

The Peggle slot machine has 50 paylines, which provides players with a greater-than-average number of potential wins. The game also has the traditional five reels, although it's worth nothing that each reel has four vertical symbols instead of the usual three.

This is just the first example of how Peggle pushes the boundaries of what slot customers are accustomed to.

Peggle Paytable

While Peggle has a number of bonus features to choose from, most wins are going to occur on the main screen. The purpose of this section is to detail all the basic ways to win, as well as how to unlock those cool bonus features.

Keep in mind that all listed winnings are multiplied by the player's wager. The more you risk, the bigger the payout.

  • Extreme Fever

Get three of these during a spin and unlock the bonus round. Since you'll have up to 10 bonuses to choose from, this becomes even more exciting as the game progresses.

  • Peggle Logo

The basic logo for the franchise. Pays 0.10 for two matches, 0.50 for three, 2.00 for four, and 5.00 for five. If you're lucky enough to get a 50 payline win, you'll receive 250.00.

  • Angelic and Demonic Peggle Icons

These heavenly and infernal tokens pay 0.05 for two matches, 0.40 for three, 1.50 for four, and 4.00 for five.

  • Wild Symbol

Looking like a sheriff's badge with a star in the middle, this shiny icon substitutes for all symbols except for Extreme Fever.

  • 10 & 9

These two common playing card values pay 0.10 for three matches, 0.30 for four, and 1.00 for five.

  • Queen & Jack

Another pair of playing card values, these pay 0.10 for three matches, 0.40 for four, and 2.00 for five.

  • Ace & King

The two highest values in a deck of playing cards, these icons pay 0.20 for three matches, 0.50 for four, and 2.50 for five.

  • Peggle Trophies

These bizarre trophies have wings and a Yin Yang symbol in their center. They pay 0.25 for three matches, 1.00 for four, and 3.00 for five.

Peggle Bonus Rounds & Peggle Masters

The Peggle slot takes a unique approach to bonus rounds. Instead of just presenting them as an accomplished fact, each bonus option is unlocked during the course of gameplay. These take the form of Peggle Masters, animal-like creatures than can be obtained by meeting certain criteria.

Once a Peggle Master has been unlocked, all their details can be viewed in a gallery located in the Paytables section. The longer you play, the greater your chance of unlocking them all.

When three Extreme Fever icons turn up, the bonus round is activated. But instead of the game automatically assigning a specific bonus option, the player gets to choose based on the number of Peggle Masters currently available. This means you might have a single option, or you might get to select from as many as ten.

For your convenience, the various options and requirements for unlocking them are listed below:

Bjorn

A smiling unicorn, Bjorn is unlocked on the first spin of the game. Even if you haven't unlocked any other Peggle Masters, this cute horned beast is always an option. During the bonus round, the player receives unlimited free spins, with the money earned going into a cash bucket. If the prize ever falls into the COLLECT area, then the round is over.

Jimmy Lightning

A chubby gopher who's unlocked with five consecutive wins. His bonus round awards the player a dozen free spins. After a winning bonus spin, Jimmy appears and multiplies it by 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x.

Kat Tut

An irony-loving cat who dresses like an Egyptian pharaoh, Kat Tut is unlocked by getting a 50-line win. His bonus round delivers 14 free spins, with super stacked wilds appearing randomly on the second through fifth reels.

Splork

A bizarre alien who loves bowling, Splork is unlocked after the player obtains the bonus round 20 times in a single session. If chosen, this round bestows five free spins on the player, with super stacked symbols transforming into random winning icons.

Claude

A lobster with a French accent, Claude becomes available after the player hits consecutive bonus rounds. His bonus level awards 15 free spins, and getting a Claude symbol on the first three reels keeps that spin from counting against your total.

Tula

A smiling flower who wants to travel the world, Tula is unlocked when every possible win on the paytable has been achieved. The bonus awards six free spins, and her appearance results in an entire reel turning wild.

Renfield

A talking pumpkin who's carried around on a platter by his manservant, Renfield is unlocked after winning the Big Bonus. He delivers 10 free spins, and his symbol becomes wild and remains in place for the duration of the bonus round.

Lord Cinderbottom

Hailing from a race of dragons known as wyverns, Lord Cinderbottom dreams of being a firefighter. He becomes available after the player gets 15 losing spins in a row. Once activated, he awards three free spins, breathes flames across the screen, and turns a maximum of four reels wild during a single spin.

Warren

A cute, magical bunny who wears his own tophat, Warren becomes activated after 10 consecutive losing spins. His bonus provides a dozen free spins, and the appearance of his symbol awards a special Magic Circle bonus.

Master Hu

An intelligent owl wearing a turban, Master Hu is unlocked after 20 straight losing spins. His bonus awards unlimited free spins, at least until the player gets 10 wins.

Screen Options

When you play the Peggle slot machine, you'll notice several options on the screen. The following section is intended to explain each of them.

  • Stake/Lines

This is the amount of money that the player is betting on each payline. Amounts include 0.01, 0.02, 0.04, 0.10, 0.20, 0.40, 0.60, and 0.90.

  • Lines

The number of active paylines during a spin. The options include 10, 20, 30, 40, or 50. This amount is also listed down both sides of the slot, such as "50 Winlines."

  • Stake

The total amount of money that the player is wagering on a single spin.

  • Spin

A green button with the word "spin" on it. As expected, clicking it sets the reels into motion.

  • Total Paid

During a winning spin, the amount of the payout is listed in this field.

  • Paytable

By clicking this option, the player can view the paytable, a diagram of the paylines, and a gallery of all the Peggle Masters that have been unlocked to that point.

  • Peggle Masters

As these characters are unlocked, they become visible across the top of the screen. Clicking on one brings up the Peggle Institute screen, displaying the requirements for unlocking each and showing those currently available. In case you're unfamiliar with the game, the Peggle Institute is where all the masters live.

Summary

Peggle slots are unique, profitable, and a complete blast for the player. Fans of the original game are sure to be overjoyed, but new players should also be delighted by the wide range of colorful characters and bonus options. If you're looking for a way to spice up your online gambling experience, we recommend this title from Blueprint Gaming.
